La centrale utilise du charbon pour alimenter des turbines \u00e0 vapeur et des chaudi\u00e8res, afin de produire plus de 800 m\u00e9gawatts d'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9. Au d\u00e9part, la centrale disposait de densim\u00e8tres radioactifs pour g\u00e9rer la concentration des boues de cendres volantes.
